CCTV Camera Simulator
The CCTV camera simulator offers the necessary tools to recreate the coverage and field of view of different camera models included in the catalogs provided by the application. These models belong to brands such as Ksenia, Honeywel, Hikvision and Dahua.
This CCTV camera simulator is integrated into the DAIS_cad application, which allows you to project camera coverage onto the floor plan of a building or house for visual representation. In addition to cameras, it also represents the coverage of volumetric sensors and fire detectors, adapting the device diagram to the construction. This provides a precise view of the coverage and field of view of the devices.
The application not only presents CCTV camera symbols but also allows you to incorporate other security symbols corresponding to detection devices or physical security elements into the working floor plan. It includes cable runs and conduits for each element. Using this data, the application automatically generates a final report that includes the different elements, wiring, and conduits, along with their respective measurements in meters. The report can be downloaded in Excel or Word format.
Additionally, a “Reduced Report” is created following the regulations on Private Security and the UNE EN 50131-7 standard. This report is available for download in Word format and is ready for inserting the generated floor plans in the “Plan Editing” section, which can then be downloaded in PDF format.
All of this is complemented by a selection of security elements from different brands, including Hikvision, Dahua, Honeywell, Risco, Ajax, Jablotron, etc. These elements can be automatically incorporated into the plans, adopting their specific characteristics and prices (previously entered by the user).
For more information about DAIS_cad, you can check out the "Video Gallery" section, where you’ll find videos describing the various functionalities of the application.
You can also check the "Application Features" page, where the different tools of the application are summarized.
During the 15-day free trial period, you can explore all the functionalities of DAIS_cad. Once the trial period is over, you’ll be redirected to the “Store” section, where you can subscribe to an annual plan for using the application. 😊
Customization of camera settings
When you click the “Customize” button, you’ll be able to access the selection or input of camera features that you want to configure. This action will impact both the floor plan displayed on the test monitor and the representation of camera coverage in horizontal and vertical directions.
It will also affect the selection of different camera models (when clicking the “Select model” button), presenting the models that match the selected parameters.
Reference monitor
In the reference monitor, we can observe the horizontal angle (HFOV) and vertical angle (VFOV) of the camera, both in Angular and Tele modes if the selected optics are varifocal.
Additionally, it provides information about the width and height in meters of the camera view at the selected distance in the camera configuration panel.
Furthermore, it displays the focal distance of the camera, either from the catalog or the one selected using the “Focal Distance” buttons.
Top and side camera view
The right area of the application is divided into two views:
The top view represents the horizontal camera coverage (HFOV), including the blind angle, and the reference character positioned at the selected distance in the configuration panel.
The side view represents the vertical camera angle (VFOV), also including the blind angle and the character at the chosen distance. In this view, two yellow vertical marks indicate the depth of field (for an f-number of 2)
Additionally, you can select the camera installation height and its tilt in this view
CCTV camera catalog and model selection
To switch catalogs, click the “Change Catalog” button, and then select the desired brand from the dropdown menu.
In the table, you’ll find camera models that meet the selected requirements in the configuration panel, such as camera type, Visual/Thermal, Indoor/Outdoor, and Fixed/Varifocal.
To choose a specific model, click the “+” button next to each related camera. At that moment, the configuration panel will display the resolution, sensor size, and focal distance of the selected device.
DORI standard display
In this area, we’ll see a representation of the image provided by the selected camera. Depending on its characteristics, it will present an image whose resolution depends on various parameters analyzed in the DORI standard. You can consult this standard by clicking the “PDF” button accompanying the image. This will open a new page presenting the document “Planning, design, installation, and operation of Video Surveillance Systems (VSS)” by the British Security Industry Association1.
